Indigo is a Westminster ADU build by FGRED — 1,000 sq ft 3-bedroom detached unit with two-tone navy kitchen, marble island, and modern finishes.
The Story
Indigo is a brand-new detached ADU in Westminster — 1,000 sq ft, three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, finished to a level that puts most accessory units to shame. The brief from the client was straightforward: build it as if it were a primary residence, not a backyard add-on. Indigo is the result.
The kitchen sets the tone for the entire unit. We built it around a deep navy-blue lower cabinet line paired with crisp white uppers, including glass-front display cabinets that give the space a real architectural quality. A Calacatta-style marble waterfall island anchors the room with full-vein marble running across the countertops and backsplash, and a designer chandelier overhead lifts the whole composition. The result is a kitchen that reads more like a custom luxury home than a 1,000 sq ft ADU.
A second wet bar / coffee bar zone carries the same two-tone palette — navy lowers, white uppers with X-detail glass fronts — and is finished with black track lighting and a barn-door pantry that doubles as both a functional and decorative element. The two design moments (kitchen + bar) work together without competing, giving the open-concept main floor real depth.
The primary bathroom is a full spa-style build — floor-to-ceiling Calacatta marble in the walk-in shower, frameless glass enclosure, designer black fixtures, and a clean white vanity with brushed gold pulls. The same level of finish carries through the secondary bathroom, and all three bedrooms were finished with real closets, designer lighting, and finish-grade trim.
The unit is built around an open-concept main living area with a vaulted ceiling, abundant natural light from oversized windows on three sides, and continuous wide-plank wood-look flooring throughout. Black track lighting, brushed gold hardware, and crisp white walls hold the contemporary palette together across every room.
Delivered with full City of Westminster ADU permitting, utility separations, and inspections handled in-house. For homeowners considering an ADU as either a long-term rental investment or a multi-generational living solution, Indigo is the proof point that a detached unit can be designed and built to luxury-residence standards on a 1,000 sq ft footprint.
